Learn about preventing elder abuse June 17

The Faith Committee of Lake County's Domestic Violence Council holds its monthly meeting from 1:30 to 3 p.m. June 17, in Conference Room A of Waukegan Public Library, 128 N. County St., Waukegan.

The committee is committed to providing training and education for institutions of faith on topics relating to various forms of violence experienced by families.

With June being Elder Abuse Awareness month, the meeting topic will focus on "Elder Abuse: Awareness, Prevention and Appropriate Response." Speakers will be George Schmelter of Catholic Charities and Assistant State's Attorney Kevin Berrill. There will also be discussion regarding how institutions of faith can play a role in keep elderly members safe.
