Kick off the festival season at Gilberts Community Days

Gilberts Community Days is a free way to kick off festival season in the Fox Valley.

It is open from 6 to 10 p.m. Thursday, May 30 (carnival only); 6 to 10 p.m. Friday, May 31; noon to 10 p.m. Saturday, June 1; and noon to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 2, at Towne Centre Park, Route 72 and Center Drive, Gilberts.

Highlights include carnival rides, live entertainment, food, children's activities and a car show.

Unlimited ride wristbands for $20 can be purchased in advance at village hall, 87 Galligan Road, through 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

Festival admission and parking are free.

Stage lineup

Friday stage performances will include Queeva at 5 p.m., Jimmy Nick and Don't Tell Mama at 6:30 p.m. and Semple at 8:30 p.m.

Saturday's shows include community groups at noon, Crawford's Daughter at 2:30 p.m., Heartless at 4:30 p.m., Hillbilly Rockstarz at 6:30 p.m. and Wedding Banned at 8:30 p.m.

On Sunday, community groups take the stage at noon, followed by The Wayouts at 2 p.m., Rosie & the Rivets at 3:30 p.m. and Heartache Tonight at 6 p.m.

Other events

A car show takes place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday - registration is from 9 to 11 a.m. Top 40 and Best of Show will be awarded at 3 p.m. Show vehicle parking is in the park on Jackson Street off Galligan Road and Route 72, with room for 200 or more vehicles. Call ahead to reserve space for Car Club parking at (224) 587-6803. The entry fee to show your car is $15.

The Kids Zone will be open with activities, a petting zoo, magic and crafts from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Browse booths of local entrepreneurs and companies at the Business Expo from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
