First Backyard BBQ set for June 2 in Arlington Heights

The Arlington Heights Park District will host its Backyard BBQ on Sunday, June 2, at the Historical Museum.

The new park district event recognizes what's been a staple of suburban life for decades - and that Weber Grill produced its ubiquitous kettle grill in a factory next to Recreation Park from the 1960s until the early 1980s. To honor that history and tradition, the first Backyard BBQ will feature food, games and music from 1 to 4 p.m. on the museum grounds at 110 W. Fremont St.

Traditional backyard games such as horseshoes, tug-of-war and badminton will be set up for play, the Blue Water Ramblers will be roaming the grounds providing entertainment and music. All buildings on the grounds will be open for touring and activities.

At-the-door pricing is $5, but registration is encouraged at ahmuseum.org.
