Gurnee water tower nearly erected, on schedule to be operational by end of the year

Construction on the $7 million water tower project at 1525 Knowles Road, near Rollins Road in Gurnee, is set to reach an important milestone, the village said Friday. The contractor, CB & I, has already erected the stem of the tower and will lift and affix the lower bowl in place by the end of next week, weather permitting. The water tower will be fully erected sometime later this month, according to the village. The tower is expected to be functional by the end of the year. The tower is being built to increase the capacity of the village's water system as well as increase water pressure for residents who live on the west side of the village.
