Schaumburg driver ticketed for hitting pedestrian

An 83-year-old Schaumburg woman has been ticketed after an investigation into her vehicle struck a 65-year-old woman Wednesday morning at the intersection of Weathersfield Way and Summit Drive in Schaumburg. Frances Dean was cited for failing to stop at a posted stop sign and failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.

The pedestrian who was struck was listed in stable condition as early as Wednesday afternoon, but no further information about her status was available Friday. "It wasn't as bad as it appeared to be," Schaumburg police Sgt. Karen McCartney said of the accident and the pedestrian's injuries.

Officers and paramedics were dispatched at 11:36 a.m. Wednesday. An investigation determined Dean had been driving west on Weathersfield Way when she struck the woman in the crosswalk at Summit.
