Rosenberg chosen as Arlington Heights president pro tem

Bert Rosenberg, the most senior trustee on the Arlington Heights village board, is the new president pro tem for Mayor Tom Hayes.

Hayes appointed Rosenberg, a 19-year board member, to the position this week - a biennial action that occurs the second Monday in May after a municipal election. In the role, Rosenberg will fill in for Hayes at meetings and community events when needed.

"I know this individual is someone very well respected not just by members of the board and staff, but members of the community as well," Hayes said. "Bert's historical perspective, financial expertise and reputation within the community will serve us well in this role."

Fellow board members unanimously concurred with Hayes' appointment in voting to confirm Rosenberg.

Rosenberg, an Arlington Heights resident since 1980 and CPA, was appointed to the village board by then-Mayor Arlene Mulder in 2000 after serving on the environmental control commission for 13 years. He then ran and was elected in 2001.

Former Trustee Carol Blackwood was president pro tem, but decided not to seek re-election to the village board after nine years.
