Hanover Park launching new summer concert series

The village of Hanover Park is introducing a new summer concert series under the title "Wednesday Night Live," with four shows planned at the new pavilion of the Hanover Park Sports Complex, 1200 Sycamore Ave.

All the concerts are free and will start at 7 p.m. on their respective Wednesdays, beginning - ironically - with the band Final Say on June 12. Known for its energy and wide range of songs, Final Say performs everything from the newest hits to favorite classics.

Popular Chicago-area band Dueto Hermanos Salgado will perform the Mexican and Colombian musical genres of Campirana Sierrena, Corridos, Cumbias, Rancheras and Zapateados on July 10.

Lounge Puppets, longtime stalwarts of Arena Rock and the hits of '80s Hairbands, will be in town the night of July 24.

The end of the series on Aug. 14 comes with another dramatic shift of style as band Mr. Myers - founded 37 years ago by percussionist Todd Donnelly - performs its Caribbean Rock that mixes Jimmy Buffet reggae, soca-calypso and beach music.

Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and refreshments to the concerts.

Updates and additional information about "Wednesday Night Live!" will be available throughout the summer at Hanover Park's website, hpil.org.
