Palatine Fishing Derby set for May 18

The Palatine Park District And West Suburban Bass Anglers will host their annual Fishing Derby from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 18, at Plum Grove Reservoir, along Algonquin Road near Harper College in Palatine.

Todd Ranum, the park district's athletic coordinator, said Plum Grove Reservoir is stocked with bass, catfish and panfish, and the derby is strictly catch and release.

"It's great to see the families that come out to enjoy fishing, especially grandpa or grandma with grandkids," Ranum said.

Various prizes are being sponsored by Parkside Lending, Partners Real Estate and Salmon Shop & The Great Outdoors Inc.

The fee is $5 per person, payable in cash at the event. Registration is not required.

For more information, contact Ranum at (847) 496-6238 or tranum@palatineparks.org.
