Assessor extends appeal deadlines in Elk Grove, Maine townships

An error in the reassessment values for a small number of condominiums in Elk Grove Township has caused the Cook County Assessor's Office announced to extend appeal deadlines for Elk Grove and Maine townships.

The deadline has been moved from May 18 to May 29 because of the error, the office announced Thursday.

"We found the error affected 2,516 Elk Grove properties, approximately 8% of the total properties in the township," assessor's office spokesman Scott Smith said in the announcement. "We extended the deadline to ensure that all taxpayers have adequate time to file appeals of their proposed reassessment values."

Maine Township reassessment notices will be mailed a few days after originally projected. They will be mailed on May 7 and have an appeal deadline of June 7.
