Police: Two face charges after gun sale gone bad in Warrenville

Two men are in custody and facing weapons charges after a shooting early Tuesday morning in Warrenville.

Warrenville police say they responded to call of a single gunshot around midnight on the 2S700 block of Winchester Circle West.

Officers found a group of people in an alleyway near the sound of the shot. They also found a semi-automatic handgun on the ground.

During the investigation, police said they learned Kristian Hepburn, 21, of West Chicago intended to sell the firearm to another individual at the scene. To prove the gun worked, police say, Hepburn fired one round into a grassy area bordering the southwest corner of the Winchester Circle subdivision.

When officers arrived, police say, Tandre Felix, 19, listed as Tandre Felix-Campbell on the DuPage County jail website, grabbed the gun and threw it to the ground in an attempt to conceal it from police.

Hepburn has been charged with reckless discharge of a firearm, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and defacing the identification of a firearm. Felix is charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and defacing identification of a firearm.

Police say several other individuals were released without charges.
