Hawthorn District 73 welcomes new board member Joel Finfer

Joel Finfer was sworn in Monday as a new member of the Vernon Hills-based Hawthorn Elementary School District 73, joining returning members Sonali Patil, Robin Cleek, Victoria Helander-Heiser and George Fievet on the panel.

A resident of Vernon Hills, Finfer is retired from a four-decade career in sales and marketing. He, along with the returning members, were sworn in for four-year terms.

"We are so pleased to have a marketing veteran on our team," Interim Superintendent Mark Friedman said in a news release. "We are excited by the talent, expertise and energy that he brings to the table."

Finfer previously served on the school board of Stevenson High School District 125 in Lincolnshire and currently serves on the board of the Stevenson High School Community Foundation.
