Second-place winners in the Dist. 214 Arts Unlimited contest

On Thursday we shared the first-place winners of the Arts Unlimited District 214/Daily Herald Community Arts and Writing Contest.

Today, we are proud to present the second-place winners for art and poetry. Due to space limitations, the second-place winner for prose will appear on Tuesday.

Look for the third-place winners on Wednesday.

The winners are as follows:

Visual art

Judged by artist Gary Drake, former art teacher at Hersey.

1st place: "Pry" by Noelle Walsh, Elk Grove Village

2nd place: "Looking Glass" by Jane E. Banks, Arlington Heights

3rd place: "Shells" by Diana Guarneros, Mount Prospect

Prose

Judged by William Leece, author and retired English teacher.

1st place: "In An Instant" by Dennis F. Depcik, Buffalo Grove

2nd place: "Rock Solid" by Mike Hurley, Mount Prospect

3rd place: "Out of Sync" by Zoey Heinrich, Arlington Heights

Poetry

Judged by Jeff Arena, poet and educator.

2nd place: "Anime" by Lillian Justie, Arlington Heights

3rd place: "A Recipe for Love" by Carly Colen, Arlington Heights
