Des Plaines woman dies two days after being hit by SUV
A 60-year-old Des Plaines woman died Monday, two days after she was struck by an SUV while attempting to cross a road near the Golf Mill Shopping Center in Niles, police said.
Lisa M. Bauer was pronounced dead at 1:12 a.m. Monday at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, according to Niles police.
She had been taken to the hospital in critical condition after being hit about 9:10 p.m. Saturday as she walked across Greenwood Avenue near Golf Road, police said.
A 44-year-old Niles woman told police she was driving her Mercedes SUV south on Greenwood and preparing to enter a left-turn lane to Golf when the pedestrian "came out of nowhere" and was hit by the vehicle, according to police. The driver is cooperating with the investigation, authorities said.
