Chicago man identified as Batavia crash victim

An earlier version of this report indicated the crash occured Monday evening.

A 36-year-old Chicago man was identified Monday as the man killed in a car crash Sunday evening on Kirk Road in Batavia, Batavia police said.

Scott Meyers was driving north on Kirk Road in a gray 2011 Toyota RAV 4 when there was a collision with a gray 2005 Chevrolet Equinox driving south, the police news release said.

It's unclear what caused the crash, but Meyers was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The male driver and male passenger of the Equinox are both juveniles and were taken to area hospitals with injuries that were not life-threatening, the release said.

Two other vehicles were involved in the crash, according to the release. A black 2008 Saturn Aura hit the Equinox after the initial crash, and a beige Hyundai Veracruz was damaged driving over debris. No one in the third or fourth vehicles was injured, and no citations have been issued.

The investigation into the crash continues.
