Ex-DuPage County probation officer might take plea deal in sexual misconduct case

Attorneys for a former DuPage County probation officer accused of carrying on a sexual relationship with a probationer say they anticipate accepting a plea offer from prosecutors next month.

Christian Nunez's attorney, Sami Azhari, told Judge John Kinsella Friday that both sides are "inching closer" to a plea deal in the case.

Nunez, 33, of the 1600 block of Westminster in Naperville, was charged with custodial sexual misconduct and official misconduct after authorities said he had inappropriate contact with a female probationer. He is free on $75,000 bail.

Prosecutors allege Nunez served as the woman's probation officer since her May 2017 release from the DuPage County jail on charges of manufacturing or delivering heroin.

During that time, authorities said, Nunez began contacting the woman from his personal cellphone. They said he sent her naked photos of himself and asked her for naked photos and videos.

On March 11, 2018, authorities said, Nunez went to the woman's Lombard house and requested and received a sex act.

The woman later alerted Lombard police.

Nunez's next court appearance is scheduled for May 20 for Kinsella to hear the state's offer.
