Schaumburg recycling event set for April 20

The Schaumburg Environmental Committee, Schaumburg Township Elementary District 54 and the Schaumburg Township District Library are co-hosting their annual recycling event April 20, at Boomers Stadium, 1999 S. Springinsguth Road.

Community members can drop off numerous items for recycling from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

New this year will be the acceptance of metal recycling by Elgin Recycling, including steel, iron, copper, brass and aluminum items. Tanks, refrigerators or other Freon-filled items will not be accepted.

Document destruction will occur until the truck reaches capacity. There will be a limit of two boxes per vehicle, no exceptions. No business or institutional documents will be accepted.

Electronics such as computers, printers, telephones, radios, small appliances and more will be accepted. Charges will apply for eligible televisions.

Other items that will be accepted include books, clothing, textiles, automotive and household batteries, motor oil, antifreeze and vegetable oil. For a complete list, visit http://bit.ly/2poBpHL.
