The Grayslake High School District 127 board will have a new leader along with three new faces following Tuesday's election results.

Unofficial early results showed board President Edwin Brown in fifth place, the odd man out, with five candidates seeking four open seats on the board.

Incumbent Kathleen Conlon Wasik was the leading vote-getter with 1,569 votes. Newcomer Erin Westphal had the next highest total with 1,426 votes. Avon Township Democrats President Hal Sloan was third with 1,296 votes.

And Jonathan Reinoso was in position to become the youngest member of the board. The 23-year-old high school Spanish teacher had 1,276 votes. Brown trailed with 1,143 votes.

One issue that faced voters was the bonds that the district took out decades ago that will be paid off in two years. But both Wasik and Brown -- running first and fifth in vote totals -- told the Daily Herald they favored passing the savings on to the taxpayers and avoiding borrowing more money right away for projects like a new theater.
