Lake County man faces felony drug, gun charges

A Lake County man faces felony drug and gun charges after authorities say they found "significant amounts" of heroin and cocaine at his home Friday.

Robert Windom III, 37, of the 2900 block of Ezra Avenue in Zion, is charged with two counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, two counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon and unlawful possession of cannabis, Lake County Sheriff's police announced Sunday.

Members of the sheriff's Gang Task Force and Zion police arrested Windom after serving a search warrant at his residence Friday and locating 260 grams of heroin, more than 180 grams of cocaine, more than 220 grams of marijuana and a firearm, authorities said.

Windom, who was released after posting $250,000 bail, is scheduled to appear in court Thursday.

In an announcement of the arrest, Sheriff John Idleburg said the Gang Task Force is actively pursuing suspected drug dealers.

"I couldn't have made my warnings to drug pushers any clearer - if you think you can sell your deadly poisons in our community, you're wrong," he said.
