Antioch area man charged in attempted restaurant burglary

An Antioch area man has been charged after trying to burglarize a restaurant, authorities said Wednesday.

Lake County sheriff's deputies were called to the 26200 block of West Heart O' Lakes Boulevard in Antioch Township at 10:40 p.m. Tuesday by a 9-1-1 caller claiming someone was trying to break in to a restaurant, authorities said.

Deputies arrived and found Zachary T. Morrison, 27, of the 26400 block of West Harlem Avenue, behind the restaurant. He tried to run, but deputies caught him after a brief foot chase, authorities said.

Deputies discovered Morrison had broken a window in an attempt to enter the building.

Morrison was charged with felony attempted burglary, and misdemeanor counts of criminal damage to property and resisting a peace officer.

He remains held in the Lake County jail pending an initial court hearing.
