Police: Bloomingdale kidnapping suspect in custody
A suspect has been captured in connection with the kidnapping Friday of a 21-year-old woman in Bloomingdale, police said.
No further information about the suspect was released Sunday, but DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin, Kane County State's Attorney Joseph McMahon and Bloomingdale Director of Public Safety Frank Giammarese will hold a news conference at 10:30 a.m. Monday, immediately following a 9 a.m. bond hearing.
The woman told authorities the man abducted her at gunpoint about 4:30 p.m. Friday in a parking lot on the 300 block of West Army Trail Road, police said. The man forced her to drive him to "a number of locations" in the area of Glendale Heights and Elgin before she was released.
The kidnapper was described as a white man in his 30s with brown, receding hair. He was last seen wearing a dark maroon hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.
After releasing the woman, police said, the man fled in a taxi to the area of Roosevelt Road and Clark Street in Chicago.
Bloomingdale police's criminal investigation section said Saturday it was following up on a number of leads and working in conjunction with detectives in Glendale Heights, Elgin and Chicago. Authorities announced a person was in custody through a Facebook post at 8:30 p.m. Saturday.
