Police: Arlington Heights man hurt grandmother, fought officer

An Arlington Heights man has been accused of battering his 79-year-old grandmother and fighting a police officer who responded to the scene.

Jerrell Kibble, 19, of the 200 block of Dunton Avenue, ISS charged with aggravated battery to a police officer, attempt to disarm a police officer, aggravated battery of a victim above age 60, aggravated domestic battery and resisting or obstructing a police officer, police said Wednesday.

Officers responded Monday after a complaint by Kibble's grandmother alleging her grandson had committed domestic battery, police said. She was taken to Northwest Community Hospital for treatment, according to police.

Officers later found Kibble on the 800 block of North Walnut Street, where he became combative and refused to follow an officer's directions police said. Kibble then attacked the officer, police said. During the scuffle, Kibble attempted to take the officer's gun, bit his left hand and hit his head numerous times, police said.

The officer used his Taser to subdue Kibble, police said.

Kibble and the officer were treated and released from Northwest Community Hospital, police said.
