Chicago man charged with stealing car, fleeing Arlington Heights police stop
Charges were filed Tuesday against a man accused of fleeing a traffic stop in Arlington Heights in a stolen car early Monday before crashing it in the city.
Alexander Payne, 27, of Chicago, was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of a stolen title or registration, resisting a peace officer, battery and criminal damage to government property, according to Chicago police.
Payne was driving a red Cadillac sedan that investigators later determined was stolen from Downers Grove.
Payne attracted the attention of police officers early Monday when a 911 caller reported a suspicious person trying to open car doors near Park Street and Dryden Place in Arlington Heights, according to Arlington Heights and Chicago police.
