Willowbrook shooting victim dies; no one in custody

One of two people shot March 14 near Willowbrook has died and the case now is being investigated as a homicide, authorities said Monday.

DuPage County Sheriff's spokesman Sgt. Bob Harris said Vincent L. Lauden, 41, of the 8100 block of S. Crandon Ave. in Chicago, has died from his wounds.

Two people held for questioning in connection with the shooting were released late Friday without being charged, Harris said.

Deputies responded at 10:30 a.m. Thursday to an area near the intersection of Route 83 and Mockingbird Lane for a report of two adults shot inside a residence.

Officials said Friday the shootings were the result of a domestic altercation.

Within an hour, officials announced a suspect was in custody. On Friday, they said a second person was in custody. Both have been released.

The second victim is being treated at an area hospital but authorities would not update their condition.
