District 15 projects more teachers for 2019-20

Palatine Township Elementary District 15 officials say they expect to need more teachers for the 2019-2020 academic season. In a preliminary review of teacher staffing needs for the next school year, officials said they likely will need about 890 full-time instructors, which would be a 1 percent increase over 2018-19. Officials said District 15 is enrolling a higher number of students with complex social, emotional and behavioral needs, requiring a lower student-to-staff ratio. Additionally, the district anticipates having more self-contained bilingual classrooms and needing specialized instructors.
