Issue questions

What are the most important issues facing your community and how do you intend to address them?

It is always most important to protect our citizens and keep them safe and to spend our tax money wisely. We have kept our taxes very low even though we have replaced every inch of road in the village and built our own Police Dept in 2009. The Village of Inverness is AAA Bond Rated and has been. that shows how fiscally responsible we are and have been and that is a very proud fact for our village. Also, Triple A or AAA Bond Rating is the best you can get! I do believe that safety is always our #1 concern and to do all we can to protect our residents in every way possible. Also, to always be on the alert for any project or problem that could negatively affect our residents. We are pro active on salt and always try and buy when it hits it's lowest cost and to have enough to take care of the streets all winter long. The same goes for street repairs and garbage pick up and such ... always be ahead of any potential big problems so they do not happen.

What makes you the best candidate for the job?

I love Inverness. I really do and ever since I moved here in 1987 I have been trying to "give back" to the community because I feel so blessed to live here! The people are wonderful people and Inverness is a beautiful place to live. I have always had the energy to step up and protect Inverness when I feel it needed protecting. I have always "Talked the talk" but unlike many others I actually "walk the walk" and I am proud of all I have been able to do for our community. Whether it is planning the Yearly "Inverness Arbor Day Celebration" or whatever is needed I will be there. I really do love this village I live in and plan to live here until the day I die ... I said that to my brother the day I moved here in 1987 and it still stands true today.

Describe your leadership style and explain how you think that will be effective in producing actions and decisions with your village board or city council.

I am a very out spoken person but I do have the ability to actually listen to others. Believe me, listening is a lost art and it is incredibly important to listen to others. I have great energy when there is a great idea for Inverness and nothing can hold me back when I make up my mind. I have always been told "That I don't know a stranger" and that is true as I will talk about any subject at anytime with anyone. That was a gift I was born with and it serves me and the Village of Inverness well for decades.

How would you describe the condition of your community's budget, and what are the most important specific actions the town should take to assure providing the level of services people want?

As I have already stated the fact that Inverness is TRIPLE A BOND RATED says it all. There is no higher rating. We watch all the money we spend and always try and get the absolute best prices on everything from new Squad cars to road repairs. We have an excellent reserve and spend very wisely. We are fiscally responsible and proudly so!

What's one good idea you have to better the community that no one is talking about yet?

When I have a great idea I do not hold onto it. I try and put it into action as soon as possible. Like when I was first elected in 2003 I changed our garbage pick up. We had recycle but they were very small totes you had to carry down our long driveways to the street. They were only 5-8 gallons for recycle and had to be separated and had no tops so garbage days was a mess with flying recycled items blowing around the village. My first action as Trustee was to change to groot that had 105 gallon toters with lids and wheels! They also had 60 gallon with lids and wheels for those wanting smaller recycle cans. So, not only did it help to keep the village garbage free it also made it much easier to take the garbage and recycle to the curb. In addition our village alone has recycled MILLIONS more tons than we would have and that is a total win / win. so if I have a good idea I do not keep it to myself!
