Issue questions

What are the most important issues facing your community and how do you intend to address them?

I'd say the flooding in our Western Slope neighborhood is the most important issue, and this board has taken the requisite steps to finally resolve the issue by virtue of a 10 mm flood control project starting in the spring of 2019.

What makes you the best candidate for the job?

I've been involved in the village for a long while now, and never in all this time have we been in such a position of strength be it fiscally or with the plethora of projects on the cusp of coming to fruition. I'm very excited to be a part of it and help see it all come together. It's a great time to be a Mundeleiner!

Describe your leadership style and explain how you think that will be effective in producing actions and decisions with your village board or city council.

I have an innate desire to find common ground and I'd like to think that I've brought that attitude to this board. There is no place for politics in municipal government, and I think that approach has helped our board in coming to consensus on issues quickly and taking decisive action on matters. This approach also empowers staff to take bold steps to improve our village.

How would you describe the condition of your community's budget, and what are the most important specific actions the town should take to assure providing the level of services people want?

Mundelein's fiscal condition has never been better - our corporate levy for the next fiscal year remains flat, and we lowered the tax rate for our residents. The village's portion of residents' property tax bills is approximately 13%; other governmental bodies including schools, county, Park District, Library, and Township receive the other 87% of residents property tax bill.

What's one good idea you have to better the community that no one is talking about yet?

I'll tell you the best idea - keep this board intact, vote for your incumbent trustees, and keep Moving Mundelein Forward. This is arguably the most productive board in the history of this town, and it's because we have six board members who are highly respectful of each other and all pulling on the rope together. If you want to keep the momentum going, see the downtown redevelopment come to fruition, and be a part of our future, then vote for Moving Mundelein Forward.
