Issue questions
Describe your vision for the primary role of a community college.
As a product of the community college system, I look forward in my role as trustee, in helping to promote the advantages of a community college. It provides a great opportunity for students to acquire the knowledge base to pursue their goals for future endeavors. Keeping a watchful eye on transparency of all college board actions and decisions. Maintaining a safe, clean and accessibility environment at all CLC facilities.
How well is your community college fulfilling that role? What changes, if any, need to be made?
The community college is providing a wide range of courses and faculty for a diverse student population. The recent improvements of the campus is putting the college services to the forefront. The college is able to provide the tools to the students in preparing them for future careers.
continuing sourcing of funds for future growth, for ex. from grants, trusts, corporate giving, donations. Alternative sources may be necessary depending on the health of the Illinois state budget. Continue to keep costs down for student credit hour and fees, to enable accessibility for anyone wishing to attend college.
Are you currently employed by or retired from a school district, if so, which one? Is any member of your direct family - spouse, child or child-in-law - employed by the school district where you are seeking a school board seat?
NO
Is a tax rate increase needed and, if so, how do you justify it?
None needed at this time. I do not think I could justify it.
Community colleges provide many services to a diverse population. Is there a service your college should be providing that it is not, or reaching a segment of the population that it is not?
This community college has 3 strategically placed campuses that can service the surrounding communities. I would be open to suggestions that might further assist the community further, if needed.
