Issue questions

What are the most important issues facing your community and how do you intend to address them?

Important issues for the village include, attracting the right types of businesses and development to Lake in the Hills. We can address these needs by developing and implementing strategic planning initiatives including goals that balance the need for revenue with the quality of life of our community.

What makes you the best candidate for the job?

I am detail oriented and have a hands-on approach to problem solving. I have strong project management skills with expertise managing project budgets and resource allocation. My experiences in community service and working with diverse groups of people has helped me to develop excellent listening skills and enhanced my ability to work diligently and respectfully with people to accomplish goals.

Describe your leadership style and explain how you think that will be effective in producing actions and decisions with your village board or city council.

My leadership style is approachable, friendly and willing to listen. I like to work collaboratively with colleagues to address concerns and gather information to enable informed, responsible decision making. I believe respectful discussion and working to build trust will lead to the strong relationships that will produce positive actions and results for the village.

How would you describe the condition of your community's budget, and what are the most important specific actions the town should take to assure providing the level of services people want?

Village finances are in good condition and we recently passed the 2019 budget. Going forward, we will need to address the decrease in Motor Fuel Tax revenue, and other future financial needs. The village board and administration should continue to focus on fiscal responsibility and seek opportunities to reduce costs and find savings.

What's one good idea you have to better the community that no one is talking about yet?

Small businesses and startup companies are economic engines and job creators for their communities. Unfortunately, many do not survive beyond the first few years. Business incubators can provide support and help speed up the growth and success of these new businesses and the economic benefits they bring to the community. A cooperative development plan with neighboring communities to create a business incubator could lead to job creation, increase revenues and additional economic development for Lake in the Hills.
