Issue questions

Describe your vision for the primary role of a community college.

To provide students with the skills and knowledge to be able to find work and/or be able to transfer to a 4 year school.

How well is your community college fulfilling that role? What changes, if any, need to be made?

No, compared to other community colleges in our area. Work closer with businesses to be able to provide the classes they need for their employees. Expand the number of transferable classes and degrees by working with schools of higher learning and accreditation boards.

Are you currently employed by or retired from a school district, if so, which one? Is any member of your direct family - spouse, child or child-in-law - employed by the school district where you are seeking a school board seat?

No. I was part of the Hebron Middle/High School Facilities Committee.

Is a tax rate increase needed and, if so, how do you justify it?

By expanding the Intergovernmental Agreement Program for common goods, services, labor, and equipment we can cut costs and the need to raise taxes.

Community colleges provide many services to a diverse population. Is there a service your college should be providing that it is not, or reaching a segment of the population that it is not?

We need to model our college after the College of Lake County providing the same type of services like their tech campus for high school kids and the University Center for those that want to transfer to a 4 year school so they can stay here in the county and have more time to study and be with their families.
