Registered Lake County voters can now apply to request a ballot by mail for the April 2 election, Lake County Clerk Robin M. O'Connor announced this week. There are several ways to begin voting by mail, including completing the steps online at You also can call (847) 377-2406 or email your name and address to to begin the process. Voting by mail is especially helpful for snowbirds, students away at school and couch potatoes, O'Connor said in a news release. "You only need to walk as far as your mailbox to cast your ballot," she said. Applications are due before noon March 28.
