Work resuming on Old McHenry Road in Long Grove

Crews hope to resume work next week, weather dependent, on a project to improve Old McHenry Road in Long Grove, Lake County transportation officials announced Thursday.

Workers will be installing driveway culverts, underdrain behind the curb and performing prep work for wall construction near the visitors office on the south/westerly side of Old McHenry Road, as well as other miscellaneous work at the intersection of Old McHenry Rd and Robert Parker Coffin Road.

Drivers as asked to watch for workers and flaggers, as daily lane closures will be utilized, as well as be aware of trucks coming in and out of the job site.

The work is part of a $3.8 million project to reconstruct Old McHenry Road from the Long Grove Fire Protection District station north of Route 53 to the shared entrance drive to the village hall and Kildeer Countryside School, south of Cuba Road. Other elements include a new traffic signal at Robert Parker Coffin Road, handicapped-accessible sidewalks, lighting, benches and installation of new fire hydrants in downtown Long Grove.
