Police: Man on parole sold drugs to undercover officer

A Zion man on parole from the Illinois Department of Corrections faces drug charges following a monthlong narcotic investigation by the Lake County Sheriff's Gang Task Force. Bashir Linder, 31, of the 2300 block of Horeb Avenue, sold crack cocaine to an undercover detective with the gang task force in the North Chicago and Waukegan areas, authorities said. He was taken into custody Wednesday after selling to the detective near Belvidere Road and McAlister Avenue, authorities said. He was also in possession of an additional four grams of crack cocaine when taken into custody, authorities said. Linder was transported to the Lake County jail and charged with multiple felony counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and unlawful possession of a controlled substance. Linder remains in the Lake County jail on $100,000 bail and is due in court March 13.
