Man killed in Waukegan stabbing identified
The man who died Tuesday after a stabbing at a house party in Waukegan has been identified as Joshua Cervantes, 28, by Dr. Howard Cooper, Lake County coroner.
"The preliminary autopsy results indicate he died from injuries received from sharp force trauma. Toxicology is pending. The investigation into his death is ongoing by our office and the Waukegan Police Department," Cooper said in a news release.
Waukegan police were called to a duplex-style house on the 2200 block of Western Avenue about 3 a.m. Tuesday for a large fight during a house party, authorities said. Multiple people were seen running from the house and yelling, authorities said. Blood was found in the street and at the house.
A short time later, investigating officers were told two men walked into Vista Medical Center with severe stab wounds. The 29-year-old man survived.
Multiple witnesses have been interviewed and are cooperating with the investigation, authorities said.
