Eddie Olczyk to speak at Schaumburg's Volunteer of the Year Awards

Former Chicago Blackhawks player, current TV commentator and cancer survivor Eddie Olczyk will be the keynote speaker at Schaumburg's 32nd annual Volunteer of the Year Awards Luncheon on Monday, April 15.

Schaumburg Mayor Al Larson, who not coincidentally has served for 32 years, will preside over the luncheon one last time before stepping down a month later in favor of his newly elected successor.

Nominations are needed to honor the unsung heroes who contribute their time and effort to making Schaumburg the community it is. Nominations for the awards and reservations for the luncheon can be made via the event's page on the village website, villageofschaumburg.com.

The three award categories are adult volunteer, youth volunteer (for junior high and high school students) and volunteer organization.

Nominations are due Monday, April 1 and online registrations for the luncheon are due Friday, April 5.

Admission to the luncheon costs $35 per person, but there is no charge for nominees. Attendees don't need to be nominated or have nominated someone.

The luncheon will begin at 11:30 a.m. at Chandler's in the clubhouse of the Schaumburg Golf Club, 401 N. Roselle Road in Schaumburg.
