New location for Arlington Heights teen center discussion
A community informational meeting Wednesday night about the former teen center building in Arlington Heights will be moved from the first-floor Buechner Room of village hall to the third-floor village board room.
The meeting hosted by village and library officials is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at village hall, 33 S. Arlington Heights Road. The library is considering creation of a "makerspace" - with hands-on learning tools including 3-D printers and laser cutters - within the village-owned building at 112 N. Belmont Ave. The village has owned the 8,000-square-foot brick building since 1994, but doesn't have a use for it anymore.
Officials have been talking with library leaders about a potential deal where the library would acquire the building through a sale, transfer or some other type of arrangement involving contributions from both governmental entities.
