Willowbrook teen pleads guilty to robbery at Elk Grove Village motel

A Willowbrook teen pleaded guilty Monday to an August 2018 robbery at an Elk Grove Village motel.

Kyla Hunter, 19, was sentenced to 24 months of probation and was ordered to perform 100 hours of community service in exchange for her guilty plea, court records show

Hunter was charged along with 22-year-old Jamarrion King of Palatine, who prosecutors said was on parole for a 2014 armed robbery at the time of his arrest.

Prosecutors said the victim had made arrangements for a sexual encounter at the motel. He arrived and waited for a text message indicating the room number, prosecutors said.

While waiting, he noticed a woman get out of a car that had front-end damage. After receiving the room number, he encountered Hunter, the same woman he saw leaving the car, prosecutors said.

After engaging in small talk, Hunter told the man she forgot something in her car, prosecutors said. They say King entered the room a few minutes later, pointed a gun at the man, threatened him and demanded money.

Prosecutors say Hunter and King left with the man's cellphones and $96 in cash. When police arrested the two at King's home, they noticed a car with front-end damage matching the man's description, prosecutors said. They also recovered cellphones with serial numbers that matched the victim's missing phones, prosecutors said.
