Bus fee set to rise in District 25

The cost to get to and from school in Arlington Heights Elementary District 25 for students who don't qualify for free transportation is set to increase.

District officials plan to raise the annual transportation fee from $400 to $412, effective in the 2019-2020 school year. The fee is paid only by families that don't qualify for free transportation, but wish to pay for bus service, if there is a route already going through their residential area.

The expected hike is attributed to the 3 percent increase in the district's contract with transportation provider Cook-Illinois Corp. The district inked a two-year agreement with the bus company in 2018.
