State Rep. Michelle Mussman, a Democrat from Schaumburg, will serve as chairwoman of the Illinois House Elementary and Secondary Education School Curriculum and Policies Committee in the upcoming legislative session, her office announced this week.

She expects the post will allow her to continue efforts to improve education for children across the state.

"I am grateful for the opportunity to return to Springfield to serve as an advocate for education and be a strong voice for our families, schools and teachers," Mussman said.

Mussman represents the 56th House District, which includes parts of Schaumburg, Elk Grove Village, Hoffman Estates, Bartlett, Hanover Park, Palatine, Rolling Meadows and Roselle.
