Board of trustees approves two-year extension for McHenry County College president
The McHenry County College board of trustees voted to approve a two-year contract extension for its president, Clinton Gabbard, according to a news release from the college.
Gabbard's new contract will run through Dec. 31, 2022. He has been at the school since January of 2016.
He's the college's eighth president since it was founded in 1967.
MCC offers six associate degree programs, 29 applied science degrees and 61 certificate programs, according to its website.
During his three years at the school, Gabbard led the construction of the Liebman Science Center, which is a building that includes classrooms and labs for the school's science programs.
Gabbard has also seen strong student enrollment and success, the release said. Approximately 61.5 percent of its students are considered "successful," meaning they either complete their degree, transfer to another school or are still enrolled, according to the school's website.
Gabbard earned his bachelor's degree from Evangel College in Springfield, Missouri. and both his master's and doctorate degrees in counseling psychology from the University of Notre Dame, the release said.
Before arriving at MCC, Gabbard worked at Lake Michigan College, Walla Walla Community College, Purdue University and University of Notre Dame.
