Sheriffs offer college scholarships

The Lake County sheriff's office is participating in the Illinois Sheriffs' Association College Scholarship Program, which will award more than $50,000 in college scholarships across the state during the 2019-2020 academic year.

The scholarships are to be applied to tuition, books and fees only, and the student must be enrolled full-time at a certified institution of higher learning within Illinois. Applicants must be permanent Illinois residents and enrolled full-time during the 2019-2020 school year.

Applications are available at the Lake County Sheriff's Office or on the ISA website, www.ilsheriff.org. Students must complete the application, answer the essay question and return all documentation to the sheriff's office in their permanent county of residence by March 15.
