Aurora police probe shooting that critically injured man, 24

Aurora police are investigating a shooting Tuesday night that critically injured a 24-year-old man who was sitting in his car on the city's near east side.

Police responded to the 400 block of South State Street about 8:05 p.m. and found the victim sitting in his vehicle in his driveway with multiple gunshot wounds.

Police said it appeared that whoever shot the man crept up on foot. The shooting was not believed to be random, but authorities don't have a definite motive or suspect description.

Paramedics took the victim to an Aurora hospital, where he underwent surgery and continues to be treated, police said.

Police spokesman Dan Ferrelli declined to specify how many times the victim was shot.

Police are asking residents or witnesses to call the investigations unit at (630) 256-5500 if they have any information. Anonymous tips also may be left with Crime Stoppers at (630) 892-1000.
