Believe Project: $100 to help cafeteria worker after surgery

Today's recipient of a $100 bill through the Believe Project is Mitch Horack of Algonquin. Here is an excerpt of his story:

"My friend is 60 years old. She has worked in a school cafeteria for nearly 20 years. She recently had surgeries on both her shoulders.

"Due to the physical demands required of her job, she has been unable to work for nearly a year. Her recovery has been much more difficult then expected and she will be unable to resume work for quite some time.

"Her accrued sick time is nearly depleted and she struggles daily just to make ends meet. This $100 would help her greatly."

• The Believe Project is awarding at least $100 daily in January to people with good ideas for how to use the money to do a good deed for someone else.
