A 27-year-old Streamwood man is charged with the attempted sexual abuse of a 16-year-old girl authorities say he met on an online dating site.

Jibran Shahzad, who also was charged with traveling to meet a minor, was ordered held on $6,000 bail Friday. If he posts bail, he must submit to electronic home monitoring, prosecutors said.

According to prosecutors, Shahzad met the girl on a dating site and arranged to meet her at a Wheeling parking lot Nov. 17. Shahzad then drove the girl to a more remote parking lot where he attempted to engage in a sexual act, said Cook County assistant state's attorney Ryan DeGroot.

The girl got out of the car and told a family member, DeGroot said. Wheeling police arrested Shahzad on Wednesday.

He next appears in court on Feb. 14.
