Missing Round Lake Park man located safe

An elderly Round Lake Park man was located safe after missing for several hours, authorities said. Round Lake Park Police were called to the 1000 block of Castleton Court for a missing elderly person at about 3:30 p.m. Thursday, authorities said. The 88-year-old man had not returned home from a walk at 1:30 p.m., authorities said. The elderly man left without any identification or a cellphone. Authorities summoned the assistance of a police dog from Antioch, and put out an alert on social media websites. While the police dog was tracking the missing man through a farm field, a pickup truck carrying the elderly man inside pulled up nearby, authorities said. The occupants had been trying to help the man, who had wandered into a gas station and wasn't sure how to get home, authorities said.
