Police: Buffalo Grove man displayed gun in road-rage altercation

A Buffalo Grove man faces a misdemeanor charge he displayed a gun Monday during what authorities called a road-rage altercation.

Ariel David, 34, is charged with aggravated assault stemming from what began as a report about a man with a gun at 3 p.m. Monday in the 1200 block of Farnsworth Lane.

According to authorities, the caller said he followed a vehicle after its driver displayed an offensive hand gesture toward him while both were driving near Freemont Way and Arlington Heights Road in Buffalo Grove.

When the drivers stopped at what later was determined to be David's residence, he took out what was described as a small, black pistol from a vehicle parked in his garage, police said. Authorities said the gun was displayed toward the victim, who immediately called 911.

David, who has a valid Firearm Owner's Identification card and a concealed-carry license, was taken into custody without incident, according to police. David is scheduled to appear in court Feb. 4 on the Class A misdemeanor charge that's punishable by up to a year in jail if he's found guilty.
