Ingleside man wanted on charges he sexually assaulted juvenile

The Lake County sheriff's office is seeking the public's help to find an Ingleside man accused of sexually assaulting a juvenile late last year.

Barry A. Deacon, 34, of the 35600 block of North Greenleaf Avenue, faces two counts of criminal sexual assault and two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, authorities said Tuesday.

Authorities began investigating Deacon - a convicted sex offender - after learning he had made advances toward the minor, according to the sheriff's office. Detectives later determined the juvenile was sexually assaulted Nov. 10 while visiting relatives in Ingleside, authorities said.

Attempts to locate Deacon since have been unsuccessful, according to the sheriff's office.

The Ingleside man also is wanted on a charge of failure as a sex offender to report change of address. In all, bond on warrants seeking his arrest totals $1 million.

According to the sheriff's office's sex offender registry, Deacon was convicted in 2004 of aggravated criminal sexual abuse involving a victim under the age of 13.

Authorities said Deacon stands about 5'7", weighs about 155 pounds and has hazel eyes and brown hair. He may be in Chicago or the Ingleside area.

Anyone with information about Deacon's location should call the sheriff's office at (847) 377-4250 or Lake County Crime Stoppers at (847) 662-2222.
