Summery feeling, and you could see a hawk, at Schaumburg lake home show

The weekend's snowstorm served as a not-so-subtle reminder that summer is still a long way off, but hundreds of suburbanites couldn't help but think of higher temperatures, green grass and long, sunny days outdoors when they visited the Lake Home & Cabin Show at the Schaumburg Convention Center.

The 15th annual edition of the show featured vendors, seminars, how-to demonstrations and everything else one might need to enjoy what organizers call the "second home lifestyle."

The two-day event also featured Wild About Raptors show, giving attendees a chance to see hawks and other birds of prey up close, and Chef Patrick Moore, host of the show "Getaway Gourmet," presenting ideas for cooking top-notch fare in a cabin kitchen.
