Believe Project: $100 to help brave sister-in-law

Today's recipient of a $100 bill through the Believe Project is Carol Oliveri of Hoffman Estates. Here is an excerpt of her story:

"I am writing about my sister-in-law. For the past several years, my brother has been very ill. He has had continuing problems with circulation in his legs, heart problems and other medical issues. She has always been there for him, always caring for him.

"My brother recently took a turn for the worse. It was finally decided, after seven weeks in the hospital, that his leg would be amputated.

"My sister-in-law has been with him every day, talking with doctors, bringing him food and just caring for him and being there and keeping us up to date on top of it all. She is the strongest person I know.

"I have only seen her cry once. She is amazing. I don't know how she does it. I think the $100 would give her a chance to go out and have some fun and get a well-deserved break this holiday season. Thank you."

• The Believe Project is awarding at least $100 daily in January to people with good ideas for how to use the money to do a good deed for someone else.
