27th annual WinterFest at Volo Bog set for Jan. 13

The 27th annual WinterFest at Volo Bog State Natural Area in Ingleside will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 13. The event is a blend of indoor and outdoor activities including live music, photo contest awards, kids crafts and snacks, bog tours, a snow-sculpting contest, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and hiking.

Miles Over Mountains, a progressive bluegrass band based in McHenry, is returning as featured performers. Hot cocoa, sodas and cookies will be available for sale. Eight, 45-minute bog tours will be held between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Snow-sculpting contest will feature prizes in four categories.
