Wheeling Township offers help with utility bills

Enrollment is now open to Wheeling Township residents for the Low Income Energy Assistance Program to assist with the cost of heating and gas bills.

The one-time grant is available to those who qualify according to an income scale, with a 30-day gross income of $1,518 for a single person, up to $4,218 for a household of six. Those interested in applying are required to schedule an appointment with the Wheeling Township General Assistance Department at (847) 259-7730. Documents that must be provided include a picture ID, social security card, current utility bills and all sources of income over the last 30 days.

The township processed 784 applications for 2017-2018 year and has assisted with nearly 4,600 applications since 2011.
